You can see some video tutorials on Youtube to get you going. If you are interested in video editing in general I suggest you look at the history of video editing too. There are some good documentaries about the subject. Also a good book to read is: In the Blink of an Eye by Walter Murch. As programs you can use Adobe Premiere. It is very intuitive and easy to use for beginner stuff. .
